What is the $1,000 rule in Arizona?

The $1,000 rule is the handyman exemption in A.R.S. 32-1121. A person without a contractor license can take a job only if the total price, labor and materials included, is less than $1,000, no permit is required and the job isn't split off a bigger project. Any advertising for that work has to include the words "not a licensed contractor."
