Why is journeyman pay higher than the BLS median?

BLS reports one occupation for all electricians, so its Phoenix median includes apprentices still logging hours. Experienced journeymen earn more, which puts the $33.50 median on Buildforce jobs in Phoenix closer to the BLS 75th percentile of $37.05 an hour than to the $29.43 median.
